What to Know Before You Join

Voice & Vision Studios serves students in grades 1–12.

Students do not need previous theater experience to participate. We welcome students with different abilities, interests, and levels of experience and encourage them to grow from where they are.

Our productions offer opportunities to develop skills in performance as well as other areas of the creative arts.

Voice & Vision Studios is an explicitly Christ-centered creative arts program.

Families do not need to be Christian or sign a statement of faith in order for their children to participate. We do, however, ask families to understand and respect the Christian identity of the program.

Prayer, Scripture, biblical teaching, and conversations about faith and character may be part of our time together. Our Christian convictions also shape the way we approach leadership, relationships, conflict, creativity, service, and the stories we choose to tell.

We want families to know what we believe and how it shapes our program before choosing to participate.

Each production begins with registration and auditions, followed by casting and weekly rehearsals.

Throughout the season, students work on much more than lines and blocking. Depending on the production, rehearsals may include character development, theater skills, traditional games, historical or cultural exploration, craftsmanship, creative projects, set and prop work, and other activities that help students experience the world of the story.

As performance approaches, rehearsals become more intensive and culminate in tech week and performances.

Detailed schedules are provided to participating families for each production.

Auditions allow our leadership team to get to know each student and consider where they can best contribute to the production.

Casting decisions are made collaboratively by the leadership team based on the needs of the production, auditions, student readiness, and opportunities for growth. Casting is not based solely on the size of a role.

We believe every role contributes to the story, and we encourage students to approach their part with creativity, diligence, and a willingness to serve the production as a whole.

Theater depends on collaboration. When one cast member is absent, it can affect everyone who shares scenes, blocking, choreography, or other responsibilities with that student.

Families should review the production schedule carefully before committing to a season and communicate known conflicts during the registration and audition process.

Students are expected to arrive on time, prepared to participate, and ready to work with their castmates. As tech week and performances approach, attendance becomes especially important.

Our rehearsals are intentionally tech-free for students.

We want students to have time each week to be fully present—to create, move, talk, play, solve problems, work with their hands, and build relationships without the distraction of personal devices.

Student phones and other personal devices are put away during rehearsal except when specifically permitted by leadership.

Productions take a community to create.

Parents may be invited to help with costumes, sets, props, activities, hospitality, backstage needs, workdays, performances, and other areas throughout the season.

Some volunteer opportunities require particular skills; many simply require a willingness to help.

Specific volunteer needs and expectations are communicated to registered families during each production.

Registered families receive access to our private Member Space, which serves as the central information hub for the production.
