FAQ

  • Voice & Vision Studios serves students in grades 1–12. Specific productions may have additional considerations based on the needs of the show.

  • No. Students come to Voice & Vision with different levels of experience. Some may be stepping onto a stage for the first time, while others have participated in multiple productions.

    We want students to grow from where they are, develop their gifts, and find meaningful ways to contribute to the production.

  • No. Students and families are not required to sign a Statement of Faith in order to participate.

    Voice & Vision is, however, explicitly Christ-centered. Prayer, Scripture, biblical teaching, and conversations about faith and character may be part of our program, and our Christian convictions shape the way we approach relationships, leadership, creativity, and the stories we tell.

    We ask participating families to understand and respect that identity.

  • Our faith isn't simply something we add to rehearsal with an occasional prayer or devotional. It shapes the way we seek to treat one another, handle conflict, pursue excellence, serve, lead, and create.

    We want students to understand that their gifts come from God and can be developed and used for His glory and the good of others.

  • Voice & Vision may produce both plays and musicals. Productions are selected thoughtfully based on the students we serve, available resources, artistic opportunities, content, and alignment with the mission and convictions of the program.

    Our productions do not have to be explicitly Christian stories, but the way we approach them is shaped by our Christian worldview.

  • Auditions give our leadership team an opportunity to see students perform and consider where each student may best contribute to the production.

    Audition information and preparation materials are provided before auditions whenever applicable.

  • Casting is a collaborative decision made by the leadership team. We consider the needs of the production, auditions, student readiness, and opportunities for growth. The Director retains final tie-breaking authority when necessary.

    Casting is not simply about determining who is the "best" performer. Our goal is to build an ensemble that can tell the story well while giving students meaningful opportunities to learn and grow.

  • No. Casting requires balancing many factors, and not every student will receive the role they hoped for.

    We believe every role matters to the production and encourage students to approach casting with flexibility, humility, and a willingness to contribute to the story as a whole.

  • Rehearsals include acting, blocking, character development, theater instruction, and preparation for the production, but our seasons extend beyond traditional rehearsal.

    Students may also participate in craftsmanship, creative projects, traditional games, historical or cultural exploration, set and prop work, and other activities connected to the world of the story.

  • Rehearsal schedules vary by production. Families receive the complete production schedule before committing to a season whenever possible.

    Additional rehearsals and longer call times should be expected as we approach tech week and performances.

  • Very.

    Theater is collaborative. An absent student doesn't only miss their own rehearsal; their absence can affect scene partners, blocking, technical work, and the progress of the entire cast.

    We understand that illness and unexpected circumstances happen. We ask families to communicate absences promptly and disclose known conflicts during registration or auditions.

  • Voice & Vision maintains an intentionally tech-free rehearsal environment for students.

    Phones and other personal devices are put away during rehearsal unless leadership has specifically permitted their use. We want students to have dedicated time to create, communicate, move, work with their hands, and build relationships without unnecessary digital distractions.

  • Productions require many hands, and parent involvement is an important part of our program.

    Volunteer needs vary by production and may include costumes, sets, props, activities, hospitality, backstage support, workdays, performances, and other production needs.

    Specific expectations and opportunities are communicated to registered families.
